For the first time in Australia, figures showed that sales of Android-run devices have jumped over iPhones.
42.9 percent of smartphones sold in the country run on Android operating system while Apple iPhone has 37.2 percent share. The boost in Android sales may have been caused by brand new smartphones from Samsung and HTC including Galaxy S II, Desire S, Desire Z etc.
The report of just last four weeks show that 54% of smartphones sold in the country are Android while another 29% of smartphones are iPhone.
The Next Web wrote, "Telyste analyst Foad Fadaghi believes the rise in share of Google’s Android platform may only be temporary as consumers hold off buying a new iPhone in anticipation of Apple’s next-generation smartphone dubbed the ‘iPhone 5′. The iPhone 5, expected to launch in October, is said to sport Apple’s new dual-core A6 processor, improved cameras and will feature the new iOS 5 operating system."
Apple is also believed to be manufacturing some low-cost iPhone devices which might arrive anytime in the end of this year. With that in mind, we can say that the sales of Apple iPhones may rise up again once the iPhone 5 and low-cost iPhones hit the market.
