The world's largest computer maker company Hewlett Packard has dropped a bombshell this Thursday announcing that it will stop producing tablet devices as well as smartphones that run on webOS. Along with that, the development of webOS will also be stopped.
The Huffinton Post reported that the company is also considering to sell off its PC division as well. Analysts are saying that it's a signal that HP is changing its target from hardware to software as the current world is obsessed with mainly devices from Apple and others that run Android.
The news has shocked the world of tech enthusiasts. HP last year made a commitment to continue selling smartphones and tablets. Despite that, its webOS had potential. However, as iOS and Android is taking over, HP is probably thinking that it's time to move the business to something else.
THP also reported that HP intends to buy infrastructure software company Autonomy for as much as $10 billion. This marks the move a little clearer that hardware world is literally filled up, now it's time to concentrate on creating business class software.
We'll be observing what Hewlett Packard comes up with in near future.
Will you be missing HP products? Do you use any HP tablets? What's your reaction to this announcement?
